Duration: 2.5 hours

Experience level: Beginners
No previous experience with clay is required.
Dress Code: We provide aprons, however, we recommend wearing comfortable clothing for the sessions. The clay easily comes off after a wash.
All materials are included in the cost of this workshop.

1. Introduction to the theme (15 mins)
Every EWC session has a different theme. At the beginning of the session, you will be introduced to the theme of the session. The themes for each session will be
broad yet personable (eg. dreams, memories, etc.). The goal for the next 2 hours is to interpret the theme to your liking and build your piece with a block of clay.
2. Handbuilding your ideas (75 mins)
After introducing the theme, we will demonstrate 3 important hand-building techniques and some tips to help you translate your ideas into a piece that you can love. Assistance will be provided throughout the session as per your requirements. We recommend building sculptures or abstract pieces to showcase your ideas
(instead of pots and vessels).
3. Storytelling (30 - 60 mins)
After the hand-building session, we break straight into the storytelling session. Each participant gets to share the piece that they have built and the story behind their creation (how the piece translates to the theme).
After all participants have narrated their stories, all pieces must be signed with initials and left at the studio for drying.

The firing of the pieces is included in the participation fee. If the participant chooses to get their pieces fired, they will be contacted once their piece is ready for collection. This can take 3-4 weeks.

Currently, it is not possible to color your pieces due to the time required for the clay to dry. We are working on making this option available through our Open Art Studio. In the meanwhile, you could also look at our Ceramic painting sessions.

Parampara started exploring pottery in 2019 in India. Handbuilding is her absolute favorite form in pottery as it gives her the freedom and ability to experiment and express. Storytelling is another one of her fortes, having dabbled with its
many forms (oration, scripting, blogging, videos, and podcasts). She will guide you through your experience to ensure it’s immersive, satisfying, and fun!
