Sustainability

Sustainability is often made to sound complex and expensive. In reality, it is anything but that. Striking a balance, being aware and mindful consumption is good for you, those around you and the planet. It is important to note that like every life choice, sustainability is not your impulse purchase. It is a slow and conscious journey that you undertake, learning along the way.

It helps to ask questions. What is on my plate? Beyond my taste buds, does it benefit my body? Where is this product coming from? Does it negatively impact the environment? Must I eat it regularly?

Growing up in India, the concept of sustainability was no different than the regular way of life. Repurposing and reusing clothes across their life cycle, enjoying a balance of plant based diets, local and seasonal produce, using ceramic or metal storage for their longevity, mindful use of resources have been a pivotal part of our livelihood.

Having studied sustainability from an academic and policy perspective, we have tried to take a goal driven approach towards sustainability initiatives that intersect with the Sustainable Development Goals set forth by the United Nations.

We believe that environmental sustainability and social sustainability goes hand-in-hand. We need to empower societies to encourage them to be sustainable. But first, we need to ensure that their knowledge and their livelihood are well protected by providing the means for the same.

In our launch collection, we took inspiration from India’s Warli Art, an art form native to the tribal community from the Western Sahyadri range in Maharashtra. Many of our retail designs and brand collaterals have compositions of Warli Art. In addition, we also offer a Warli Painting course at our studio, after learning it from Indian Warli Artists. This is our attempt to revive the art form and support the community. We believe that this is a crucial measure for social sustainability and we hope to support more communities through such continuous efforts.

We’re constantly on the lookout for areas of improvement, partners who can offer sustainable solutions that we can implement and knowledge that we can share with our community.
